What it is
Black ginseng (heuksam) begins as Korean ginseng from Geumsan. Through gujeung-gupo — nine rounds of steaming and drying — the root deepens in color and aroma until it turns nearly black. It is concentrated into a thick, spoonable extract with no water, sugar, or preservatives added.
How it's enjoyed
The label suggests 1g three times a day, or 3g once a day, before meals. Stir it into warm water or tea, or take it straight from the spoon. Open one bottle at a time and keep the rest sealed.

The nine-fold method is centuries old. Each cycle of steaming and drying darkens the root and rounds its flavor from sharp to deep and malty — slow, deliberate work, and the reason black ginseng has long been the more prized preparation.
